Warrenville.  Tom Brokaw wrote of this book, “Just when you thought you had heard it all about the Civil
War, along comes The State of Jones, an astonishing tale of rebellion within the heart of rebel territory.
This is a riveting and memorable read about resistance, courage, love and, most of all, the long trail of
justice and injustice in the American South.  I couldn’t put it down.”  And The Washington Post
reviewed, “…this is an important story that personalizes what remains abstract and counterintuitive in
much of our received history of the Civil War, even as we approach its 150th anniversary.”  Available
on-line from Amazon and Barnes and Noble, it can also be found in most libraries.  We hope you will
share in our review of this book.  Please bring an appetizer to share, a beverage of choice, and your

05/16/2010   Sunday, 5:30-8:30 p.m.   The Spiritual Journey Book Club will be studying this year,
"Facing Your Giants”, by Max Lucado.  When was the last time you really faced your “Giants”?  Do you
tend to retreat, duck behind work, crawl to a nightclub, or find a forbidden relationship?  This is a study
of the life of King David… an unlikely hero consumed by God; that encompasses both incredible victory
and personal tragedy.  Learn how not to stumble while your Giants tumble.  Max Lucado is the author of
multiple best sellers and America’s leading inspirational author.  His style is light, taunting, humorous,
and will hold your interest.  Bring a healthy snack to share and a drink of your choice during a time for
socializing before the book discussion begins.  This group meets once a month, September thru May,
and is open to anyone to join at anytime.  We will be meeting at the home of John and Madeline
Holstrom, 2744 Flagstone Circle, Naperville, IL  60564; (630) 922-1181.
